The AHL? Campbell has had two hot streaks in his career and smartly turned that into some serious money, but he's not good.

I'd be OK with him as the 1A/1B with Levi, but don't like that he's signed through 2026-27 at a 5M cap hit. I'd prefer someone with 1 or 2 years left to split time until Levi is fully ready to go.

Campbell is 31, has only played 186 total NHL games in his career, is coming off of a weak season, and has a high risk contract with a NTC for 10 teams. Oilers aren't getting anything of value by trading him. I also wouldn't be surprised if he wisely has San Jose on his NTC list.

I think there 3 possibilities for Edmonton to trade Campbell:

1 - 50% salary retention

2 - Throwing in a significant sweetener

3 - Taking back a bad contract.

I just can't see any team trading for him any other way.

Campbell benefited from a good leafs team, he sure cashed in at 5 mil per. the only way i can see edmonton moving him is for a very nice sweetener to any deal, campbell sucks. he got his payday and now he is terrible. so thankfull the leafs didnt pay his crazy ask..

Oh and his bad season also started after the all star game and has continued right through the remaining games of last season and this season where he has been absolutely average..(putting it politely) Maybe absolutely dog poop since) better?

The Sabres have Levi. Why would they want Campbell?

We do need a solid veteran to split time with him, but Campbell is not the answer.

If the oilers make it worth while include him a trade for Hart. Hell even a Hart/Ivan or Sanheim package.

Makes total sense. Campbell is a vet but not a solid one.

Just to add a little context:

In the 2022-23 regular season, Campbell had a .888 SV% and a 3.41 GAA.

There were 75 goalies who played 15 or more games last year.

Of those goalies, Campbell was 66th in SV% and 55th in GAA.

He has 4 more years left at a $5M cap hit, and a 10-team NTC.

Why would any team trade for him, when you can sign a better guy for $3-4M less to be your backup?

Sens say hard pass. SJ might make some sense in an EK deal. But the Campbell and Keumper deals are going to be hard to move.

Ek hire him as a blogger. Call it goalies corner. He won’t want money because the oilers will still pay him. Free labour is never bad.

You could probably flip him for Cal Petersen.
